The Gandhi Centre for Rural Development in colloboration with the Kerala Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi organised Fifteen days Swadeshi Festival at Thycaud Gandhi Bhavan,Trivandrum from 24 April to 8 May 2012.The Festival consists of Home Made Products Training,Home Made Products Exhibition and Seminars on various aspects of Swadeshi.
The Rural Development Minister K.C.Joseph inaugurated the Swadeshi Festival on 25 at 3pm and Kerala Public Service Commission Chairman Dr.K.S.Radhakrishnan presided over the function.Kerala Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi Working Chairman Dr.N.Radhakrishnan will delivered the Keynote address. Annu Uppu,Ennu Soap,Swadeshi and Sustainable Development,Swadeshi an Alternative to Globalisation,The Swadeshi Movement in Kerala,Paper Bag an Alternative to Plastic Carry Bag were the important seminars organised along with the Swadeshi Festival.The Seminars focused both the theoratical and practical aspects.
As part of the Festival,Six Training programmes were also scheduled.(1)Jewel Making from 24 to 26 (2)Soap Making from 27 to 29(3)Food Processing and Jackfruit Products Making from 30 to May 2(4)Umbrella Making on 3 and 4(5)Paper Bag Making on 5 and 6(6)Consumer Products Making on 7 and 8.In addition,a wide range of Home Made Products exhibition is also arranged along with the Festival in order to give a first hand information to the people.
KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala inaugurated the Swadeshi Seminar Series on Swadeshi and Sustainable Develioment on 4 May and the Gandhi Centre for Rural Develioment Chairman Dr.T.Mathew Philip presided over the function.
